Equine Welfare Statement

Equine Welfare Statement

Statement
As stewards of these magnificent creatures, we embrace our responsibility to uphold the highest standards of horse welfare and encourage those who we work with to do the same. Our commitment is founded on the principles of Friends, Forage, and Freedom - the essential pillars that shape a horse's well-being.

Friends: Horses are social animals, thriving in the companionship of their kind. Recognising this, we ensure that every horse in our care has the opportunity to form meaningful connections with fellow equines, fostering a sense of camaraderie and emotional security.

Forage: We prioritise the provision of a balanced and nourishing diet, acknowledging the critical role that nutrition plays in a horse's overall health. Ample access to quality forage supports not only physical well-being but also mental satisfaction, aligning with the foundational aspect of the 5 Domains Model - nutrition.

Freedom: Our commitment to equine welfare extends to the promotion of freedom – the liberty for horses to express their natural behaviours. Whether through ample turnout, proper environmental enrichment, or the facilitation of natural movement, we strive to create an environment where horses experience autonomy and fulfilment.

The 5 Domains Model guides our approach, recognising the interplay of nutrition, environment, health, and behaviour. This holistic framework ensures that the physical and mental needs of our horses are met. The mental state of our equine companions is of paramount importance, reflecting their emotional well-being and the quality of their lived experience and this underpins our work.

In uniting the principles of Friends, Forage, Freedom, and the 5 Domains Model, we stand unwavering in our dedication to providing horses under our care, and encourage the same with our clients, with lives that honour their nature and promote not just survival, but the thriving and flourishing of each individual.
